19mm SOLID FLOORBOARDS

Straight from nature. Still the most longevous floorboard type. This classic robust floor type is available in the widest sizes, longest boards and suitable for construction as a structural floor directly fixed over bearers & joist or battens.

OVERLAY SOLID FLOORBOARDS

A slim adaption of the thicker style solid floorboard. Overlay performs well over flat subloors and is a more convenient solid floorboard for installation in apartments. Still comes with the thick ~5mm wear layer and requires fixing tot he subfloor.

PARQUETRY

The little things that make up the grandest designs. Only an expert craftsperson should attempt the installation of a parquetry floor. Unlimited pattern choices combined with the opportunity to choose any combination of timber species accommodates for unrivalled versatility in design. The thickest wear layers and smaller divisions of blocks achieves one of the most stable and longevous floor types possible. Repairs are simple as one can surgically replace only those blocks which are damaged. Parquetry usually comes solid and raw but prefinished engineered options are available.

RAW vs PREFINISHED

Most solid floors come raw, needing to be sanded and finished on-site while most engineered floors are prefinished in the manufacturing process (although we can supply exceptions in both cases). As a general rule, raw floors give a little bit more freedom in design choices as one can choose any stain (or no stain) with oil or poly coatings, in gloss or matt finishes. Prefinished coatings are however more convenient because you dont need to deal with the added curing time, sawdust and potential fumes on a busy jobsite. Prefinished timber is also open to some unique effects and textures (eg wire-brushing) which are difficult to acheive on-site. While the choice of aesthetics in prefinished floors is usually adequate, we can also offer custom designs by working directly with the factory.

AUSTRALIAN HARDWOOD SWATCHES

STAINED EUROPEAN OAK SWATCHES

ENGINEERED FLOORS

Grown by nature, shaped by us. These floorboards combine a genuine timber veneer atop a stable engineered base (usually crossply or blockboard). Generally broken up into two categories, clear coated Australian hardwoods or European Oak which is available in a variety of finishes. Engineered timber is quite versatile with installation being suitable as a floating floor (quicker installation) or direct fixed to the subfloor (greater resilience and stability).

Decking

Nature is the master of outdoor design. Timber is the perfect material for the outdoors, its strong, resistant to chemical attack, not too hot in the summer and most importantly, is in harmony with the landscape. We only use timber that is resistant to insect and fungal attack and has suitable fire ratings. Corrosion resistant nails, screws and secret fixing techniques are available as well as composite decking materials.

Sound proofing

The serenity in your home. With the ever increasing popularity of apartment / multi-story living combined with hard floor types, acoustics are more important than ever. As well as being a legal requirement in apartments, sound dampening can greatly improve the peacefulness in your own home and between neighbours. Speciality acoustic underlays are available for all our timber floor types. We know that sorting out acoustic requirements can, at times, be confusing and stressful. Our acoustic services aims to make the process as simple as possible while getting the best result at a reasonable cost. Acoustic underlay is available in sheets of rubber, cork, foam and other options each material has its own specialised use.
